I would like to remove TouchWiz and put in Pure Android. Committed to the Google App World, so the TouchWiz interface is just redundant. Tried to root the phone before, but it did not work out.

I have a Galaxy S5, Model number SM-G900H, running Android 5.0. A possible complication is that the phone was a resale from the Vietnamese Market, sold at a good price from an E-Bay distributor. I am using T-Mobile as the carrier, paying each month.

Am I missing anything? Also, is it time to upgrade to Marshmellow?

Welcome.
You can only do what you want to do by rooting the device/unlocking the bootloader which Samsung makes difficult.
Not impossible, just time consuming.

The SM-G900H is the international exynos version. Exynos versions of samsung phones usually lack 3rd party developer support. Its is very hard to find ROMs for that version...
The only good ROM that i know for SM-G900H is the xtrestolite. It is a bloat-free touchwiz.

TouchWiz is just a launcher. Download Google now launcher if you want true Google experience.
