Push email and desktop connection

i've had the g2x for about a month. Impressed with some of the capabilities at first but am starting to miss my iphone like mad. A few newbie questions for you guys:

1. Push notification on my gmail app used to work, now i have to actively refresh to get my email. even that doesnt work very frequently. Please help, i'm dependent on email thoughout the day.

2. how do i connect the phone to the desktop? my computer won't recognize it. where are the files located on the web?

3. Can anyone recommend a good visual voicemail app? google voice is atrociously difficult to use.

Try clearing data for the gmail app. If that doesn't work delete you Google account and then re add it.

What are you trying to do? You might need the LG drivers. The link for that can be found in THIS thread.

The T-Mobile visual voicemail app works just fine for me. If not I haven't had any problems with Google Voice personally...but it's been a while since I used it.
