Push notifications not working

so my facebook and twitter push notifications no longer work. i always have to constantly check it my self. and also twitter no longer updates by its self, i always have to refresh it. whats the problem?

The easiest thing to try is to delete the account and re-add it in settings. Let me know if that works.

I've deleted my account and re-added it. I've also deleted the app and reinstalled it and neither method works for me. Still no notifications.
