Hi!

I got my Pixel 8 Pro two weeks ago (had a Samsung S23 before). I can´t get the notifications for Facebook to work. The only push-notifications I get is friendrequests and when an administrator for a group accept my request of joining. I have checked all settings in the phone and in the app, but it still doesn`t work. I use Facebook in my work so I really need the push-notifications to work. Anyone who can give me a helping hand?

Have you tried logging off/on from FB or clearing app data and logging back on? I know you said you checked this, but gotta mention it: check that the Notification categories that you need are enabled in the FB App's settings as well as making sure that all relevant notification types are both enabled and set to either pop-up and/or allow sound/vibration.

If that doesn't work, are there any other FB sessions you have open simultaneously that might be 'intercepting' the notifications? If you don't get them as push notifications, do you still get them in the app (i.e. red dot)? Is the Sync option active on your phone as well as the FB app allowed background data?

I have tried logging off/on, cleared both cache and data but it doesn´t help. I am not sure if I have missed any settings in the app, but push is activated for everything. However I can´t find were I enable pop-up on the phone and I don´t know were to find the sync option. Background data is enabled. Gets a few notifications in the app, around 5 per week.

In terms of Battery Saving, you should be good (the app is already set NOT to go into Battery Saver/Sleep mode). To check the Notification settings, long-press the Facebook app icon and select APP INFO. There, you should see a Notifications section. Besides checking that notifications are allowed (don't think that's the issue since you do get other notifications), check how the notifications are shown, but also check the bottom section, "Notification categories" and ensure the toggle is set to ON for each notification type you want (you can tap on the category text, not the button, to further customize/check how the notification is displayed if enabled).

The only notifications a always gets is friendrequests, so I checked the settings for this and then compared it with the other categories. All settings are the same...

Is there another device you could temporarily test the FB app to see if you do get push notifications there (maybe a tablet)? If not, it would be a FB account issue. But if you do, then it's back to being an issue on your phone (but at this point, with everything checked and active, looking like it could be a device-specific bug with the FB app and should be reported to them).

Going to try that, thank you so much for all your help :)

Let's try this:
1) Pick a notification category you're certain you're going to get (i.e. comment on your posts)
2) Turn Push OFF and keep it on for e-mail or SMS.
3) Do you get that notification via e-mail?
4) If not, then it's definitely a FB account issue. If you do, try turning Push back on.
