Hi everyone, I posted this same question over on the XDA forums, but figured I would get some feedback here as well.

Hi guys,

I'm on my second transformer in a week and going back and forth between keeping it or going for another replacement. Let me address my question though.

Can those of you with this device confirm whether or not you have a perfectly constructed Transformer? What I mean by that, for the most part, is that it's devoid of the various hardware defects that people are complaining about. These include poor touch response on the screen (having to double touch, or it doesn't work at all), speaker balance issues, light bleed, and screen-to-bezel separation.

My first TF from Amazon had the speaker issue where the right was much louder than the left. However, that was the ONLY problem with it. There was no light bleed and the screen, from what I can remember, did not have any noticeable separation.

My replacement came from Newegg, and the good news is that the speakers both work great. The bad news is I have a SLIGHT light bleed down in the UI menu at the bottom of the screen when in landscape mode, and I would say a moderate issue of the screen being separated from the bezel. A lot of people seemed to not notice this second issue until they starting looking closer at their own TFs. Basically, run your finger around that little black line that links your screen to the case. Is it seamless with the glass or does it stick out?

I'm beginning to question my OCD at this point, but if people really can confirm for me they have 0 light bleed and seamless screens I think I will keep returning until I can get what I would consider a perfect replacement.

All feedback appreciated! Thanks!

I seem to have a good one, from newegg. I do not notice any speaker issues, and there is slight light bleed at boot up only. Touch response is sometimes sluggish, but I do not notice it much. I adjusted my browser using about:debug (info from xda forums) because my browser lags (mostly because I'm on cell data networks). Mine glass seems flush with the frame all the way around.

Once I get it running on ADB I plan to watch what is going on in the logs while I use it.

I plugged mine into a 23 inch Samsung LED display and there is no light bleed. ;)

I have not tried USB speakers nor USB 1TB drive nor USB keyboard, but USB mouse works great.

I believe if you can compare it to another tablet you get a better idea of differences.

Thanks for the response, Bob.

I think if I just had the slight screen bleed I would be ok (which is probably sad when considering I shelled out 400 bucks for the tablet). The screen separation is definitely what is pushing me towards getting another from Newegg. It's something that I can see getting worse through everyday use, and while the 1 year manufacturer warranty from Asus would likely fix it down the road I would rather start out ahead of the curve if possible.

Anyone else besides Bob that can report that their screen is flush with the case?

mine is flush...i have minimal light bleed from the left in landscape but it is virtually impossible to detect unless i am in a pitch black room (which is rare). i first got a defective TF (16GB) from Sears in terms of display (there must have been a loose connection because the display would go in and out depending on how you turned the tablet) so returned that one. then got one from Microcenter (32GB was all they had) and have been very happy with it. screen is flush with bezel as well and no touchscreen issues either.

I'm on my second TF of the day, my first was near perfect except for some dustspecks under the screen that were very visible on bright pages. I figured it would drive me crazy so I went back for a replacement, now this one has some decent light bleed along the bottom in about three spots. I dont know what to do now, I dont how how much light bleed is considered " acceptable" or if the next one will have more. I don't want to go through TRUs stock looking for a perfect unit that may not exist.

Sounds like Asus really needs to get their **** together. If I hadn't heard about so many people having issues, I would have bought one already.

It's absolutely ridiculous that it's so hard to get a device without any issues.

My 16gb TF from Best Buy had pretty bad light bleed and unbalanced speaker volume. The speaker balance seemed to get fixed with the 3.2 update so I figured it was software related. The glass and touch responce were good but the light bleed didn't seem worth keeping it. I am now waiting on my 32gb from Amazon hoping it will be perfect. I really like the docking station so I'm dedicated to the Asus, otherwise I would get that Samsung .

You mean the 3.1 update right? My right speaker is a little louder then the left other then that it seems good. I got mine from Amazon.

Volume could be louder though when using the speakers.

Volume? What volume? :( If there is the slightest background noise, I can't hear nothing out of these speakers.

The AC adapter is temperamental, but the device itself, just may be a perfectly manufactured transformer.

....Of course I just jinxed myself.

No light bleed, no vol issues, the only thing wrong with it is that HoneyComb needs some more maturity. Very happy with the hardware.

I have no issues with my transformer. It has been running very well and I have nothing to gripe about the tablet itself. No hardware issues or anything like that.

Yes I meant the 3.1 update. I got my 32gb and almost perfect yet I have a little light bleed on the bottom. Sucks first users have to deal with new hardware issues but that is how the game works. If you are the first one to own a product, you are pretty much a beta tester. It happens to the best of companies. I am just still amazed how much I prefer this to my notebook.

only a little light bleed (bottom right corner), same as my first one, it is really noticable on first boot-up

Around the bezel I do feel the black ring but does it really need to be flush? I see no gaps

I have the bronze frame feeling like it's rattling and 4 spots of light bleed but I'm so worried to send it out and not have any luck getting something better I'm crazy OCD when it comes to my electronics so I'm going to have to send it out.... Dose any one think it's worth talking to Asus directly to see what can be done?

I just bought mine from a Best Buy box store... and *crosses fingers, knocks on wood, and holds a unicorn hostage*, no issues whatsoever.

Take a look at your serial number on the box. Does it start with B6? And did it come with 3.1 already on it? The one 1 got from BestBuy has been flawless so far. Well, a minor wireless issue but that's software.

I agree. I didnt notice any light bleed on mine when I boot up, but then again I never have to shut it down or restart it.

The only issue is the lag in the stock browser and my fix for that is opera. :)
