[Q] MMS & other questions

Greetings,

My son has a Nexus 5 that I recently rooted for him. He is running the stock 6.0 rom. He is having times when he can not receive MMS messages. It will just sit there downloading. This was a problem before he was rooted. I had him try messenger instead of hangouts & that worked for a while but started again yesterday. After I rebooted, it seemed to work for now. Any thoughts? He also has a similar problem downloading torrents. Sometimes it works & sometimes nothing will work. Would going to a different rom help? Maybe Pure Nexus or CM13. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

This seems like a carrier issue except that it's intermittent. Has the MMS reception ever worked (consistently) on that sim/number? Stock rom should work fine. Which carrier? When my son moved frrom n4 to n6p, he had to alter some settings on T-Mobile, but I think he wasn't able to send mms. Don't know if it related to the phone or MM. My n5 runs stock 6.01 (rooted) on AT&T without issue. When I first ported into AT&T, a botched port prevented me from receiving mms. I actually had to reset my acct with a new number.

It works sometimes. Both sending & receiving MMS. This is on T-Mobile. Always has been. I have checked all the posts on T-Mobile's support forums. Seems like a random T-Mobile problem, as lots of people report it. Well I am going to update it to alt lease stock 6.01 & see what happens. Thanks.

My wife had this issue pop up using Hangouts. I moved her to the generic Android messenger app and the problem went away> Then 2 days ago shoe suddenly couldn't send 2 SMS texts. I cleared the app's cache and that seemed to fix it. She is on T-Mobile as am I but I don't think that is the issue. I have not had the problem and i am also now using the generic messenger app. I can't be 100% certain but I think this started with 6.0 and continued in 6.0.1.
