It also depends on your usage pattern. Are you using it a lot when away from home? If so, then an external battery pack makes more sense.

That really depends on who you are and what you want. I prefer the wireless charging

Does wireless charging have any negative effects on the battery? Also I've read that wireless charging is slower than wired charging and also overheats your phone more easily.

I haven't noticed any negative effects, only positive for me. I don't find that it charges the phone that much slower, and if it does then its not a huge big deal to me. I also don't find my phone being any more overly hot then normal or when using the chord, but that's of course just my opinion.
