I recently purchased an Epic 4G and gave the wife my Evo. I absolutely love the phone and really don't miss the Evo at all. I have a question about the Qik app. When I try to initiate a video chat with her it says "establishing connection" but it never connects. I believe its a problem with the Epic because I was able to successfully make a video call from an Evo to her Evo at a local Sprint store. Is anyone else having similar issues with Qik on their Epic?

I successfully did a Qik call with my Epic to an EVO. The video looked distorted though, so I'd recommend using fring instead.

I have fring installed but I don't see the option for video calling. It has the option to make a regular voice call but that's it. Any ideas?

to use fring to video call you would call her and she would use fring too did you try that? There when both are online with fring there should be an option for video call. Hope that helps.

Fring comes in laggy for me. I haven't gotten a chance to try qik with anyone yet. That was between an iphone 4 and the epic though.

its probably really laggy because of the 150k cap all of us have been getting on the 3g upload speeds....

I had this same problem. I was able to fix it by removing the 'work' and 'home' phone #'s for my wifes contact in my phone. These other #s were showing up under the contacts in Qik along with the main cell #. Don't know how to get Qik to use a certain # associated with a contact.

I dotn use qik often but I have made many phone calls. I noticed that plugging in the actual phone number makes the connection setup alot faster.

Me and my wife both have the Epic 4G and we really love the phones. But we also notice that when you use Qik and use the contact information to call, it doesn't want to call or it just says," establishing connection." A few times I've just put the number in manually and it will call. So I don't know what is the deal on this particular app. I did install Fring and still need to try it out with my wife and see if this app will work better than Qik. Qik needs to come out with a update and fix that so it would work better.

Try calling by just entering the other persons QIK user name.

my wife just bought an Epic today (great phone!) and I have an EVO, we got QIK to work but the video Im getting of her is real grainy and jerky

I'm using the Tango app for video calls. It works pretty good. Audio and video is good quality and plus I can also use it to call friends that have an iphone 4.
