Qik Video Chat

iMovicha just worked for me when Fring and Qik have failed. I'm not sure if you can use the front facing camera, but using the back camera, video worked both ways.

I haven't been able to get Fring or Qik to work but I just tried iMovicha and it worked fine. I couldn't figure out how to get the front facing camera working, but video was being sent both ways using the back camera.

how do i create an account? it keeps saying you are not currently connected to the network. Check your connectivity

This seems to be part of the major bugs qik is having. I was able to create an account and use it shortly this morning, but getting the same error trying to sign in since about 4PM, Regardless of battery pulls, resets, App data clears through settings, etc.

Also happen to be lucky enough to not see this so called "update" in the app market...

Way to really show how awesome your app is qik, lol broken on day 1 of the evo launch...

Well, here's hoping they get things ironed out soon.

I'm getting this same error. I actually have a Qik account that I used on previous phones, and I can sign into Qik just fine on my computer.

I don't see any Qik app in the market, and I am not seeing any way to update the Qik app that came installed on my Evo.

I did do the HTC update to fix the SD card though...

ok here is my question i have the evo and i tired fring and it wont let me make video calls at all like there is no selection to even vid chat.... and with qik same i cant seem to get it to work now i live in chicago so we have 4g but in my appartment i cant get 4g only 3g do i have to be in a 4g area to vid chat

From the Qik blog:

Today we also released an updated version of Qik in the Android Market for all the non Sprint HTC EVO 4G users that provides a number of new features including Video Mail and My Videos. For now, you?ll need to get the Sprint HTC EVO 4G to take advantage of Video Chat.

From this I would assume that the app in the Market is not for the Evo. I did sign up for Qik. They sent me a message to confirm my signup. When I did it asked me for the brand and model of phone. The Evo was not listed. Strange!

Same here. Go to their web site and create an account then login to that account via Qik on your phone.

All,
It sounds like the Qik folks are just not ready for prime time with the Evo. Give them a few weeks to catch up and I am sure they will have something that works.

I don't know if its related, but my qik just barely works. Most of the time it just freezes completely. Even when it was working, I couldn't figure out how to do anything like send a link to a video, or even upload a video. Its nothing like qik's iPhone app, which I loved.

If you're having problems with connection or logging in all you have to do:

Download Astro File manager
Find the SD Card Folder
Then find the Qik Folder
Tap and Hold the Qik Folder, Edit/Delete (This is OKAY, it will be remade, its a temp folder basically, so if you delete it, it'll be remade)
Exit Astro and enter back into Qik and it should work

After several installs/uninstalls and reboots I finally got it to work.

If you're getting the message about not being connected to the network and you can see your data arrows moving, ignore that message. Don't cancel out of it, just let Qik do it's things. Once you get signed in if you exit the program and try to reenter Qik you'll get the sign-up screen again, it's time for another restart and all should be good.
