Quad Core

i think you also have to remember that quad cores are a few months out. you will be waiting until at least May seeing as how there arent quad cores even announced for VZW and they dont play nicely with LTE which Verizon is pushing hard. You are better off going with the Galaxy Nexus, i have it and love it. Quad core is also a bit over kill as ICS is optimized to run on dual core. the only real benefits of QC is that games will run better but there are like only enough games to count on one hand that can run on QC or that need it. Dont waste your time or money. Plus QC has yet to be put through the tests yet. At least dual core has been out and we know what works and what doesnt. i mean would you buy the first flying car? no you would wait a bit to see if its actually worth the hype.

If you have a phone that is pretty much useless and you are still waiting for the next big thing, you have more patience than I had with my OG Droid. I couldn't wait to upgrade to the GNex and luckily this phone came out right when I was due for my upgrade. If you are waiting for the GSIII, remember that this phone probably won't come to Verizon either, unless I missed something. I don't think the Exynos or the Tegra 3 plays good with LTE. I could be wrong though. I would get a better phone ASAP. Almost all of the higher end phones should be future proof for 20 months. The GNex gives you the latest Android on top of that. I am sure by this time next year, everyone will be talking about 2ghz+ quad cores with 2 gb of ram and better battery life, as well as every new feature that is being talked about this year.

appreciate the input, but will respectfully disagree with you. I think I can handle the transition, however rapid and significant it might be. Last i looked at my kids Bionic and my other kids Thunderbolt, and my other kids iPhone 4S, they all seem to work the same way my Storm 1 functions.

I may be missing something here, but your comments on these threads beg an obvious question. If your true assessment is that 4s = Bionic = Storm 1, then you are in no way qualified to assess the difference between a horrible piece of hardware which foreshadowed the ultimate demise of a company headed swiftly for bankruptcy and the most popular piece of consumer hardware in existence conceptualized, designed, and executed by a company which has overtaken Exxon via measure of sheer net worth based partly on the wild success of said hardware.

With all due respect, I believe you are asking the wrong question. If indeed you see a cell phone as merely a dialpad on which there are a few window dressings of moderate usefulness and your goal is to minimize your investment in phone hardware, the question you should be asking is, "How long can I possibly make my Storm 1 last before it becomes utterly useless as a communication device?". This objective look at your needs will likely show the original question to be a moot point since at time X in the future when the RIM hardware becomes utterly useless your options of available hardware will look nothing like the landscape does today.

The responses to your original post are well-intentioned but largely miss the point that you seem happy with what you currently possess and your ultimate goal is to minimize the outlay of capital on your next device. That being said, a forum such as XDA Developers is far from the most useful (to you) place for the answers you may find most helpful. By and large we are a bunch of technophiles and early adopters who are willing to invest time and resources enough to be able to explain the intricate (and significant) differences between a Storm 1 and a 4s.

Good luck on your quest.
