Quality of Sync

Anyone know for sure how well Android will sync with my work email which I get through Outlook and everything else??? I've searched and found some about ActiveSync, but want to hear what you've found or experienced.

Is there a huge delay in the sync or will things show up instantaneously?
Does it sync my full outlook?

My 2 Cents:

There are options withing Gmail that allow you to "configure" your email clients. That being said I don't use outlook. I do however sync my mac with my gmail account (ie., ical, address book, etc.) and it is wonderful.

The advantage to anything you do through gmail is that it is (from what I can tell) instant compared to my pop email account on the phone. As for the contacts and calendar, it does sync regularly but you can force it to check for changes as well.
