question about app drawer/home screen apps

Hi all, I'm fairly new to Android and completely new to Samsung.
My question is, I have the phone setup to use the app draaer but I would like whatever apps I have on my home screen to be hidden in the app drawer.
I have found the Home screen settings and the Hide Apps setting but when I choose an app to hide it is then hidden in the drawer AND the home screen. What I want is to hide apps only in the drawer so that there is no duplication.
I can do this on my LG G6 but so far I can't on the S10.

Think of it this way. The app drawer contains every app on your phone. The home screen basically shows a quick way to get to the apps you put on the home screen.

Yes I know. On my G6 there are app settings that only apply to the apps in the drawer - sort apps, hide apps etc. If I then hide apps in the drawer, they are still on the homescreen.

This probably sounds very anal, but I only want to see the apps I actually use, not the multitude of apps that always come with Android that I'll never use.

Welcome to the forums. A possible workaround could be if you create a folder on the app drawer and manually move in there all the apps that you have on the home screen. This is what I do using Nova launcher. IIRC this option is available with the stock launcher in Samsung devices.

Did you try to just long press on the icon on your home screen then choose remove from home?

Sorry. I just reread your post. You are trying to do the opposite. Why wouldn't you just want to keep your home screen clear then change your app drawer to be accessed by swiping up?

I keep my most used apps on the home screen, just Chrome, Mail, Calendar, Camera and Whatsapp, so that I don't have to search for them, or even do any swiping, when I want to use them. For all other apps, I swipe up to access the app drawer.
I simply want the same option to configure the app drawer as I have on my G6. However, it isn't the end of the world, and I'll keep on experimenting.

I might give this a go when I have some spare time. Must admit I'm a bit reluctant though. The one thing that iPhones have in their favour is the OS hardly ever crashes (I can honestly remember only 2 crashes in years and years of using them). Unfortunately, Android cannot say the same, even though I am so glad I made the change and would never go back unless Apple completely change their phone OS (the hardware I don't really care about, all high end phones are pretty amazing pieces of kit, let's face it).
Anyway, I would be worried that Nova would make the OS less reliable but I'm willing to try it.

No Nova will allow more customization to the UI,but definitely try it

It isn't 2009 lol, crashes are incredibly rare unless you're doing something wrong.

They probably are more common on Android due to the fact that it's far more complicated. But more common and common aren't the same thing.

I must not be understanding this correctly. I use the stock launcher on 3 Samsung devices & I have folders in my app drawer as @Javier P suggested. I even have a 'Home Screen' folder that stores all the apps that are on my Home Screen. (Like the OP, I don't need to see them twice.)

So I'm sure I'll probably feel like a dummy after posting this, but what am I missing?

No problem, OP wants the app on their home screen not be duplicated in the app drawer, now on the home launcher if you hide a app it will do it in both places, a 3rd party launcher like Nova can hide hide in app drawer but still have on home screen to give a cleaner look.
