Question about battery life

I just picked up the Galaxy Tab 2 refurbished from Walmart and so far, I really like it. I have a question about the battery life, though. Do most people turn the tablet off when done using it (say, overnight for example) or just put it to sleep and how does turning it off vs. sleep mode affect battery life? Thanks!

My battery seems to last 3-4 days when left ON. If I turn it OFF it is good at least a couple weeks, but is still drained some. This is not a scientific study but just my observations.

I leave it ON most of the time so I can check my mail or weather at a moments notice and not have to wait for it to boot up. It is so much faster this way and is much more convenient than my desktop! It is the reason to have a tablet!

Screen brightness and the time the screen is left on are the prime battery drain factors.
I have had very good results using a sleep timer app to listen to music or an internet radio station to go to sleep by, with the screen off.
The battery shows very little usage over night, by using it this way.

I try to keep my battery fully charged because it's said that constant draining and recharging uses up the finite number of times a battery will accept a charge. However, I've read that fully discharging it once a month or so is recommended so as to avoid the battery developing a false memory about how much of a charge the battery THINKS it needs.


Hopefully this info gives someone a start toward further research for their info as they find necessary.

My tab only last half day with active data sync for email and stuff

Some very good tips so far. I let all my devices sleep at night but I keep the Wifi off when the screen is off. Everything but the phone shows almost no battery use.
