Question about financing the device with bill

Hi there,

I currently don't have the hard cash to drop on a $200-$300 device and was wondering if Verizon allows you to buy the device on contract and pay it off through my monthly phone bill. For instance, I currently pay about $110 a month for my plan, would they support charging me $160 a month for 4-6 months to cover the phone? Or is that not possible?

Thanks and sorry if this is a dumb question.

I think you get one month to pay it back, if I'm not mistaken. Say you buy it Friday, your bill will be around the usual total for December, then January's bill should be your bill + the charge for the phone.

You have a 400 credit (recently changed) but that depends on how good you are in paying the bill.
But its expected to be fully paid next bill statement.

i'm going to go with a no on this one.
edit: apparently someone knew the answer already :P

hooch is correct. Also, there is a $400 bill-to-account limit, so you'll barely be able to charge the phone and a few accessories, if you're lucky.

Ah okay, thanks guys.

I think I can manage to pay it off in a month, so that's still good to know.

I cant bill to my account yet until i pay decembers bill. They said after 6 months of payments you can bill to account. Plus I think you have to pay it all in one month. When did you start your service OP?

Another alternative is to pay for the phone (either upgrade or full-retail) with your credit card, then pay it off a little every month.

ive done it several times and it was always lumped onto my next months bill.

The product life cycle of a cell phone is SO short. If money is tight, waiting just 30 days can make a massive difference in the price. Why not hold off?

Ehehe, I'm currently paying something else off on my card. :-$

Also, It looks like my first bill was on December 2nd of last year. So I started my service over a full year ago.

I probably should, but my DINC has been having issues. If I try to web browse or use an app, about 50-60% of the time my phone will immediately overheat and constantly reboot until I pull out the battery and leave it for an hour. Using navigation is out of the question, which sucks because I'm really good at getting lost!

I don't want to be condescending, but I have been in the same position before, and I wish some one told me this ......

In the grand scheme of things, this is just a phone. Is it really worth stretching yourself for a phone that will be obsoleted in a year's time? Or would it be less stress on you, even mentally, if you just had that extra hard cash in your pocket? Doesn't your current phone do everything you need for now? Or is there an alternative in your budget that would?

Again, my intention isn't to be rude or over-presumptuous .... but I would just like to share my thoughts (as I wish some one had done the same to me a while back).

Okay, rant over, now carry on :)

Everytime I charge to my account, I pay it off on the following bill. I don't believe Verizon does financing.

See his last post: His Droid Incredible is overheating and dying.

Yeah -- I was in the middle of typing my reply when I had to get up and do something for a bit -- so I didn't see the newer replies in the thread when I completed my post.

When I bought the bionic at full price the rep offered to put the whole thing on my bill. It was over $600.00 with accessories. I guess it just depends on the account. I still have a credit from when I returned that phone and had paid my bill. I will use that for the GN. It's the only reason I'm going to get it in the store.

Try eBay and use bill me later. Should be 6 months no payments no interest. This assumes good credit score.

if you're that strapped for cash, you should probably wait a little while till you're a bit better off financially.

That sir, is un-American. How dare you!

Give Verizon a call. The Dinc is still under warranty. My daughter's screen died on her Dinc. I called Verizon & they sent her a refurb. This was just last week.

Not necessarily. I am on a family plan and have more credit per line as I billed a full price phone to the bill before which was way over the $400.
