Question about GPU throttling.

So, I ordered my nexus 4 and it's on it's way. I'm very excited, but I read something that concerns me. It has to do with a issue that appears to happen when the phone reaching a certain temperature after heavy use from GPU intense games or whatever where the GPU will slow down, throttle, and you'll notice drop frames.

Now, I would like to ask people who have used a nexus for the last few months or so and tell me if this is really a issue I should be worrying over. I don't play a ton of games on my phone. But When I do I don't want the performance to be bad. (Although, from what I've seen from a video it takes about 30minutes of GPU intense stuff to heat up the phone enou to cause the throttling.

If anyone can chime in, I'd greatly appreciate it Still looking forward to the phone.

I don't game on my phone much either. I've noticed some frame dropping while playing Vector at times, but there's no way to say whether that was the game, throttling, or another issue. Can't say specifically either way, though I can't recall fps dips in general either.

Hmm, well hopefuly it won't be something that effects me.

nope, even with throttling none of the games I play (every game in the humble bundle with android 5) and others like dead trigger, all angry bird games, tower defence games etc never slow down enough to matter. Runs super smooth really.

The only thing you will notice is that benchmarks will vary considerably with their scores lol.

Images below show you what throtteling can do...but still the frame rate is good enough for a smooth experience.

The thing to do is pay for the repair or new phone.
