Question about GTALK

Is there is any way to keep this turned off? I dont need it on since i dont use google talk service.

BUT if I do turn it off will it stop my gmail from syncing? Im sure there are probably alot of threads on this but I couldnt find the answer. THANKS!

I turned off the 'automatic sign-in' in the gtalk settings. I'm not sure if that completely shuts it off, but it will at turn off the network usage. It still signs in if you start the app, though, so you have to be sure to sign out after every time you open the app.
