Question about international usage

So maybe it's too early to ask, but I'm going to ask anyway in case someone knows the answer. When ICS comes out, I should be able to take advantage of the LTE radio to use my Maxx in other countries - right? I've never had a phone that could do this before, so I guess my question is this: is it as easy as just getting a prepaid SIM and putting it in? Or will I have to get VZN to "unlock" the phone (not really even sure what that consists of)? Are there any implications of getting the phone unlocked (warranty etc) that I should know of?

Finally, is this something I'll have to pay extra to do (beyond getting and loading the SIM card with $ - I realize I'll need to pay for that).

Thanks for the help!

Verizon doesn't consider this a global phone yet apparently - so this planner just tells me to upgrade to a global phone.

They do mention some absolutely RIDICULOUS costs though:
Talk:
England Standard: $1.29
Value Plan: $0.99

Data:
$0.020/KB
($20.48/MB)

Text:
$0.50 send
$0.05 receive GSM Dual Band GSM Dual Band CDMA

Has anyone received this update? Will this come with ICS?

Sent from my Droid Razr Maxx using Android Central Forums

For being unlocked with the upcoming update making it a world phone and another carrier's sim, does anyone know what kind of data the maxx will be able to get? Edge? 3g? Hspa? Hspa+? Anyone?

Thank you in advance
