So i got my samsung galaxy s4 2 days ago. got it all set up to the features i want and such.
however, online, i see that when some people are making a call with the GS4 instead of showing that human face figure in a white background, it shows a picture of a phone in a blackish backgroud
how do i set it up to do that?

Can you show a picture of what you are referring to? I'm guessing its a default picture assigned to a particular contact.

anyone??

mines from verizon if it matters btw

Probably a difference in carrier demands. I know for example Verizon has certain features different/or removed versus ATT/Sprint versions of the phone. It is possible that Vodafone wanted that background or style for their network.

Exactly what I thought after seeing the video. You can alter these types of images. However, It often requires root access and changing certain files.

I may be unclear as what exactly the OP is referring to, but when the phone was first released it was noted that some models had a dark-themed app for contacts and dialer, while others had a white-themed version. I know Verizon's GS4 has the white version of these apps, as I believe most of the North American versions do.

If this is what you are referring to, the short answer is that it can't be changed. I imagine if you're phone is rooted there may be alternate themed versions out there that could change it (I'm not sure, never looked into it), but other than that you're stuck with what you got.

Exactly that. On my S4 when I dial I get a white background with the contact picture. In the video he linked it is a black background and a picture of a phone instead.
