I am thinking about getting a nexus 4 but before I do I need to know if the camera's quality is good enough for taking pictures of powerpoint slides of lectures or of notes on paper etc. If anyone could post pics that would be great too!

Thank you!

Hey I looked through that thread but it was mostly of outdoor shots.

I would love a pic of a powerpoint lecture slide if possible~

Thank you though!

What exactly does that mean? You want a photo of a projected slide? From how far back? Zoomed in? Projected onto what? Under what conditions?

Likely you'll find the N4 to take sufficient photos of the slides and notes you'll be taking photos of. The quality overall is a little lame (iphone 5 has better quality), but I doubt you'll notice that in notes/slides.

I was kinda disappointed with the Nexus 4 camera overall but it can take decent photos. The video capture is horrible, from my experience. I wouldnt recommend the Nexus 4 if you want a good smartphone camera.

Short answer: yes.

You will need to pay attention when you take photos though. Exposure levels will be based on whatever you are focusing on...if you are taking a scene of mountains and sky, focusing on the sky will cause silhouetting in the mountains. Focusing on the mountains will cause the sky to be washed out and bright.

So you need to focus in a way that balances the exposure in a way thats acceptable. It isn't hard to do IMO.

This camera is bad at low light images. HDR helps, but the sensor is just not that great for low light shots. However it does have excellent Macro capability. Close up images can look very very nice on this camera.

Maybe I just don't know a lot about photography, but I love the pictures the Nexus produces. I don't really see the difference between the pictures the Nexus takes and the iPhone 5 I used to have. Same with the video.

The iPhone 5 has a better sensor in some ways; It has better low light support for sure.

It is about compromise; Apple made different decisions than Google did. Apple's camera has better low light but not as good macro, and it probably costs more as well.

I use my N4 to take snaps of white board sketches at work all the time - quality is perfect for that. Also, for documents, I like using google drive's 'scanner' input doc type and found the camera fine for that - alot easier than digging out my old flatbed scanner :)

Am I the only wondering why your lecturer isn't backing the slides online? or recording the lectures?
The camera is fine, however I don't take photos of lecture slides.

Well is it good enough to take pics of powerpoint slides on Promethean boards?

Its camera is perfectly fine but the sound of that video camera is horrendous. That's one of the few drawbacks I've noticed of incredibly fast and pretty phone.

I came from a 4S and I think the camera is great! Better at dealing with high and low light situations. Back in 4.2 it was terrible, but the latest update, 4.3, fixed any problems I ever had!

I find the quality great outdoors if you watch the exposure and the video quality great as well. Lower light indoors is a problem but it's like that with all phone cameras. They are greatly improving though and I read that Canon sales have dropped due to more people using their phones for pics and videos.

Since updating to android 4.3 my camera images are always horrible. They're always blurry and fuzzy. Anyone else? I'd rather revert back to 4.2!
