Question about Pre-ordering from Google Play

Okay, I've never pre-ordered from Google Play. However, I love my Chromecast other than it not having 5gHz WiFi, and I use my Roku frequently. The Nexus Play seems like it could replace both of these devices. So, I want to pre-order it. Now comes my question.

When does Google take the money for pre-orders out of your bank account? I know Amazon doesn't take your money for pre-orders until they ship, is Google the same?

There is an upcoming Chromecast that might offer 5 gHz WiFi. However, I also like the idea of one device replacing both my Chromecast and my Roku. Plus I like trying new technology, so I just want an Android TV device.

It doesn't have 5GHz wi-fi, it actually doesn't have any real changes whatsoever.

As for the question at hand, I pre-ordered my Moto 360 through the Play Store and my card was debited immediately. Granted, it was shipping out in a week so I wasn't really surprised. I'm not sure if they would do the same with a product that actually won't be shipping out for another three weeks. Just to be safe, you should make sure whatever card you use has enough funds to cover the cost of the Nexus Player, taxes, and possibly shipping.

Why can't I pre-order the Nexus player? It is now the 17th but it is still grayed out.

I just checked and same with me (1:35 PM EST). Hmm... I remember the Moto 360 pre-order went up pretty early in the morning. The Google Play Store hasn't been updated at all to reflect newer devices either. It still shows the Nexus 5, 7, and 10 along with the Chromecast, some older Chromebooks, and accessories for the Nexus devices.

Thanks but they are charging 10 bucks for shipping (no excuse) plus tax (understanding) no thanks I will wait until I can order it from Amazon and get free shipping.

The charge is showing in my account now. It may just be some sort of hold, though.

Still nothing on Amazon yet. They might have the pre order link but if the product is not indexed in there search good luck in finding it. I had major problems finding new products as I could not find them on there until they indexed the search with the new products. Googling is also useless no suprise unless they index it first on Amazon. Still wonder how you find these pre order links. You must work for the company I can never find them googling or otherwise.

When you place your order.. Google will take the amount out and put it back within 3 days. This is to ensure you have the funds. Than once it ships they will take the payment out.

I will use both my Roku and Nexus Player. I like the idea of having full access to the Play Store. Also the the Nexus Player will have more customization options.

Looks like the final charge for me is going through right now on my Visa. Ordered on minute one. Lol. Maybe it'll ship tomorrow.

They only pre authorized for pre orders. Those pre auths disappeared a couple weeks ago.
