Question About Prevail Model Classification

So I see that AC tucked the Boost Galaxy Prevail forums under the Galaxy S section. Does this mean that the Galaxy Prevail is a variant of the Galaxy S? And if so, could it possibly get the "Value Pack" update Samsung is tossing around for the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab? Is it possible to root it and hope that CM9 will run on it? I have the Galaxy Nexus and my son has the Prevail. He is bummed that I have ICS and he will only have Gingerbread. Kids ... LOL

Despite being part of the Galaxy S line the Prevail has little in common with the other Galaxy S phones so it is unlikely the Value Pack will work on it. You can root it easy enough and there are a few Samsung Based roms that aren't bad (I have not used them personally but so say my friends who have them) there is even a cm7 port in works. As for CM9 I'm not going to go as far as to say it's not possible but I wouldn't hold my breath
