guess everyone knows about the problem we may have cuz of that mini sd card. About reformatting, can i do it on pc? dont want to fire up evo4g until fully charged. I do have a mini sd card adapter, also will backup everything b4 doing that.

don't reformat. card has programs on it. not sure of all of them, but htc sync is one. OTA fix should be ready in the morning.

good luck with the OTA by tomorrow. Hope but don't see that happening. As for the card, you keep referring to a mini sd card. the phone has a micro sd card, big difference in size. As for reformatting, i downloaded the SD formatting software from Here

You can copy the data that is already there off first and then copy it back.

I got one of the Google ones, but the guy had "lost" the 8GB card, so he gave me $20 off. It still came with a 2GB one (the Google ones had 2 cards included). I took and old 8GB I had laying around from the TP2 before I went to a 16 GB card, saved everything to my computer, and decided to reformat the 8GB in the phone. It formatted it to FAT32. I then looked at the format on the 2GB cat, and it was Fat, not FAT 32 (not sure of the difference). They read different when you select "properties" when you have it plugged into the computer. Then the issue with the early SD cards came out. I suspect they were formatted wrong. So check yours, if it's FAT, save everything to your computer, let the phone reformat the card, then copy everything back

I hadnt realized this was here before making a new thread, my bad:

I bought a bigger card and I wanted to transfer all the info from the stock 8GB card onto it. Whenever I try to copy the info from the stock 8GB to my laptop(so I can then put it on the larger card) I keep getting the following error:

error.jpg

*awaits all the "thats what she said jokes"* lol

Is anyone else having this issue? Or knows how to solve it?

Thanks

Did you format the new card?

What format is your SD Card?

Do you have an adapter on your PC or is the phone plugged in Via USB?
Sounds like this might be part of the whole SD card issue.

As a matter of fact I have it in the card adapter. The phone is currently charging. Wanted a full charge before firing it up. Hmm that could very well be the issue. I'll try it from the phone and let you know.

Thanks

This isn't the card issue if you have it plugged into the computer. The SD card would only be affected if it was plugged in through the Evo, where the problem lies. What's the directory that the file is in?

I have the micro SD card in the adapter and it shows up as E:\, and gives the error when I try to copy the info to a folder on my desktop.

The file you are trying to copy, is it in a folder on the SD card? What is the filename?

Thats the thing, it does it to every folder, and every single file. At first I thought it was just one, but then I tried copying the files and folders one at a time and again got the error.
