question about sm-g955u

I bought my S8 Plus at the AT&T store last year. I never paid attention to the fact that it was a sm-g955u and not a sm-g55a. Is this technically an unlocked phone and why I have not received the Oreo update yet? I've tried to reaserch this, but I see both sold by AT&T online.

955U is the carrier version(for all carriers) as opposed to 955U1, which is the unlocked version. If yours is 955U and boots up with AT&T screen, it is AT&T and will get update from that carrier.
As to why you have not received the Oreo update yet, IDK.
