Question about the Oreo OTA/Beta

I really want the Oreo OTA for my Nexus 6P but I'm having a terrible time waiting for it to come in. I think I've hit the Check for Update button about 300+ times since it was released and still nothing. My question is, I read in an article that if I sign up through the beta program I'll get the update, but if I back out of the program I'll lose the update and go back to Nougat 7.1.2. Does anyone know what the deal is? I don't want to stay in the Beta program after I get the update. I know I'm being greedy but Android updates are my guilty pleasures haha. Thanks for the help.

I just read a post on reddit from someone who said that he tried opting out of beta and opting back in again, but all he got for it was DP4 again after he rejoined.

I'm like you, I was annoyed with how long it was taking so I opted into the beta program and now I'm on DP4 which is running perfectly fine for me until I get the official update.

Yeah if you do the beta program you'll need to wait for the final version to be pushed to you. Once that is done you can opt out and will not revert back to Nougat.

I'm in the same boat here. I have a Nexus 6p and I'm running The beta 4 preview. I thought the final release would come to us by now but I still haven't received it either.

Exact same situation. It feels like the 6P users have been accorded second class status now that the Oreo beta program is over and the phone's end-of-support date is approaching. I routinely got the new public betas within a day or two throughout the program, but I have been cooling my heels for a week now without seeing an availability notice for the OPR6 release. I have tried more than once to force an update by setting my phone date ahead, which had worked in the past when I couldn't get a timely OTA update. This time there is no joy.

OK Google, update my phone!

I am in the same boat. The beta updates came fairly quickly, but the finalized version is taking forever. My nephew didn't enroll his N6P in the beta program until last Friday and he got the final version right away. As long as l eventually get it, I will be patient.
