Question about the Verizon Kit Kat update

just got a moto g today , im not activating it just using it as a wifi device / mp3 player etc... will i still get the update? i go to check for updates and it says i have the newest version (which of course i do not)

I got an update to 4.4 on my X without an ATT sim. so now i am not quite sure about that
