i do have a question about unrooting. i'm rooted with the One click root and recovery for the epic 4g V2.55 with clockworkmod redirector. i was researching/ reading that i can still receive ota updates if i've never installed any roms, kernals, etc and if i never deleted any bloatware. is this true? the only thing i did was root my phone to basically get shootme to work (sad but true...i heart that app). i've left everything else as is. now i am on the once official release of froyo but i got it via samsung's website and used the sd card/ update.zip file method. sprint told me that i could still receive the ota of the new froyo even though i have the "un"official version they released. what i didn't tell them was that i rooted my phone. so that's my question...can i still get the ota if i'm rooted? also if we are able to update to the EC05 froyo can i use the sd card/ update.zip file method again? do i have to delete any file or files from my sd card ie. the EB13 zip file and the clock work mod file that was created on my card when i rooted? thanks for all the help!

Yes you can still recieve the OTA update the way you are. Otherwise you can also use the update.zip method.

Unrooting / Recovery?

I'm planning on rooting my phone soon, just to try a few new ROMs, tethering, and some other things I'm sure I'll find along the way, but in case i decide to go back...

Is there a way to simply "un-root" and just go back to the way my phone is now, only without being rooted? The stock, un-rooted Froyo eb13 again with all my contacts, apps, and everything that i have now like it never happened?

Orr do i just have to go through the "Flash/Restore to Froyo EB13" process at the link below and start all over?...

(now that i think of it, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to back my phone up regularly either way, haha)

Thanks for any help guys, i know I'm a noob, but restoring is the only issue I'm really concerned with, I'd just like to hear an answer first hand

Thanks for the quick answer

I just read something about RFS...to EXT4...(at the link below)

----
"What does this procedure do to my phone exactly?
It will permanently root your phone"

http://forum.androidcentral.com/epi...c-4g-official-froyo-eb13-w-optional-ext4.html
----

This RFS to EXT4 "swap" seems like an optional thing for root users... correct?

Soooo if i do change to EXT4 with the method in the link above... There is no way to un-root back to my stock phone?.... Even by "Restoring" with the method in my last post?

Thanks a lot for the help

Thank you for the reassurance, then id assume that means i would be back to getting stock OTA updates... :) haha... This makes me more confident to at least try it out
