Question: Automatic Activation Code Scan

When I initially configured my Note 9, I remember noticing that it automatically scans and apply activation codes sent as a text message or email.

Is this a feature of the Note 9 or is it app dependent? If it's the former, how do you activate/deactivate the feature?

I think it is app dependent, WhatsApp and others will do it automatically I know
