Question Cortana ? or Google for use in vehicle for calls and texts ... with U connect in 2016 Jeep

In a previous life, I used a Windows phone and was able to call and text using voice commands with U connect. (Apparently this still works with the Cortana App..did not verify if this works or not)..Does anyone know if Google Assistant is capable of the same ?
I own a Jeep with U connect. Unless you pay for the upgrade,you can only send predetermined one or two word texts.
That's my reason for asking.

Of course it does. You can say something like: hey Google, call John Doe mobile. Or, hey Google text Jane I will be late.

And as AI comes out of the "totally brain-dead" state (where it really is today) into the "barely sentient-appearing" state (which is occurring slowly), expect to see 3rd party apps that make both Cortana and Google look like stone-age tools. Apps that anyone can install on almost any phone.
