question: do you turn off your phone at night?

havent restarted my note8 since i got it 3 weeks ago, dont intend to till i get the note9

I also don't turn mine off at night...I put it on a wireless charger and have Bixby open Nightclock (app) for me "Hi Bixby...Goodnight), which is set up to display the time in large, very lightly colored and highly dimmed red font. As I've gotten older my vision ain't what it used to be and I can't really see the time on my alarm clock across the room...I believe a combo of how far and I think my eye just likes red better than green font. I'm not very good about the reboot thing...I usually have to get a nag message before I think to do it.

The refrigerator was a good analogy!

I leave my phones on. My presonal phone, LGG5 is my alarm and my work phone, iPhone 6 I leave charging in my Jeep so its on and ready to hit the road in the morning. There are times I wished I turned it off. Like the times my mom called me after 11pm just to chat when Im in bed cuz I work early and she doesnt think about time since she doesnt work. Then twice after midnight I had to go out and drive her and my sister home from walmart when they locked the keys in the car... Maybe if I turned it off they would have to get one of my other brothers out of bed to do it

I use DO No Disturb from 10pm to 8am. Only people who can get through are my Starred contacts. The phone sits on a Tylt wireless charger. I restart once a week. Phone is never turned off. NOTE 8.

I put mine on airplane mode for the night but do not turn it off. it sits on my TYLT charger and I have actions to keep the screen off. and for the nights I don't use airplane mode I have do not disturb on.

I never turn off my phone. When I am on a plane, I am on their Wi-Fi or airplane mode. I need to be reached in case of an emergency whether it's my family, financial (identity theft), or home security breach. My phone is one of the most important things I own. It's not a toy or a means for social media. It's a necessity. On Sundays, I reboot my phone to refresh it.

My phone is both a toy and a necessity.

Nope... put it in "Do Not Disturb" with "My Favorites" as "Exceptions"... in case one of them needs to get through to me during the night. Kids, Sister, Brother-in-Law, couple of close friends, etc. - otherwise, it can wait!

Any negative effect on the phone if you turn it off nightly?

I have always turned off every phone I have owned every night and never had any issues, matter of fact my wife has always had the same phone and mine has always run better, less lag no freezing. But, like I said earlier in this thread we have a landline with the triple play so any emergency is covered by other means.

I don't turn it off. Along with other posters, I also use it as my alarm clock. To save battery, I just put it in Mid power saving mode (Max mode will disable the alarm). I also have mine set to restart every week just to refresh.

I have mine go into Do Not Disturb automatically at 11 pm. I use custom DND which allows my favorites to get through (I only have family and critical work numbers in as favorites) and I only also allow my Security System app notifications through as an exception.

All the other notifications are not allowed through until morning.
