OK, here's the thing. The VZ OTA keeps downloading on my unlocked, rooted, CleanROM 1.5.5 setup. Of course it never completes, just says rejected by user, even when I say "OK, do it I dare ya!" LOL.

My question. I've used X-Plore to set perms on the file and the "fumo" directory to 400, but the OTA still overwrites and replaces the file, then it has 777 perms again.

I figure if it can't overwrite the existing file, the download will just fail, but doesn't seem to work. Does VZ have some super-super user permission or sumptin?

Any ideas how to make the download itself fail, rather than just the install? Of course I don't really care, I never (rarely) use wifi. Since I have unlimited data, I leave it on 4G/LTE and Big Red is using their own network to keep pushing the file.

Would be nice to just put up this roadblock to them though.

The OTA process runs as wheel or root so that it can't be stopped/interrupted by the user. If you really want to stop it, upgrade to CR1.6.5

Not showing etc/groups so the wheel isn't config'd so possibly this runs su to access. adding password to root user? This could hose up a lot of processes I guess that use root without a password.

Oh well.

EDIT: Found I had a prob with the perms, I did not set the fumo directly correctly, had it on 440 by mistake. Now that I fixed it, the OTA update download is only occurring when I reboot the phone. Check for new software does nothing, and the status shows update failed instead of "rejected by user".

KEWL, I can live with dat! Also, don't want to flash the 1.6.5, liking the 1.5.5 enough to not bother with the wipe and rebuild. Will be worth it when Scott get's a ROM based on the "official" ICS ready for primetime.

We might be in for a looooooooong wait on official ICS.

This man speaks a sad and unavoidable truth.
I wanted to wait for official ICS also, but the OTA is killing my spirit. I may wait for Scott to patch some bugs with SenseLess 2.2 and just call it a year.

Try CleanROM2.3 and de-sense it with this. That's what I did and its working lilke a champ minus Sense. It's essentially what Scott did, except he took the time to really dig out the Sense framework and replace it with stock ICS framework. I've been doing that manually bit by bit.

That's a pretty good utility, thanks for the heads up.
You should post your re-worked ROM whenever you finish it, if you're going the developer route, that is.
