Question For Evo Owners who Switched from BB

The HD2? I had forgotten all about that device. I have always wondered how it was. I actually thought the Sense UI on it was better than the Android Sense. Was it a good device for you?

The only reason I got the EVO was because I was sick and tired of having only 2 bars of EDGE in my own home with TMO, and was informed by them that at least up to 90 days from now, there were no listing of any tower upgrades in the area. I love the HD2, but had enough of TMO to last a lifetime! Never again with them.

And even though WinMo seems to be losing a lot of ground, not much of an app market, maybe less now that 6.5.x is dead and most developers going to WP7 only, my HD2 was still an incredible phone! Not to mention easily customized (task bar, sliders, skins, etc), but 10000 times easier to flash a custom Rom to than rooting is. And Roms? Like a kid in the candy store, tons to choose from. And as it was an MS OS, superb integration with MS Office and Exchange servers. I sorely miss it :'(

I actually liked my last windows mobile device. I had a Tilt some years ago and I really liked it. But like you, I didn't like the carrier. I would like to see what WM7 will bring.

I hate where the reply button is in the gmail app in relation to how you reply on a BB, I wish it was a simple menu option instead of having to scroll down through (some very long) emails to get to the reply function... that's probably my one biggest complaint.

Keep the Blackberry. The EVO is better in almost every other area, but if you're dealing with that many emails, the EVO will just frustrate you. The EVO works great with gmail, but I have yet to find a way to get my POP account to work as well. Also, I've gotten used to the virtual keyboard but I would hate trying to respond to that many emails every day with it.

What problem are you having with POP mail? Maybe I, or another in here can help you

i know. pop email on my evo isnt a problem at all. I have it set to check mail hourly. My comcast email account wasnt instantaneous on my BB anyways.

This is very simple to do.

1. Go to GMAIL online from your computer

2. top right hand corner click "Settings"

3. click "Accounts and Import"

4. set up all your other email accounts

5. on all account select option: Reply from the same address the message was sent to

This works perfect for me. I get all my emails on my main GMAIL account. Email addresses are all separated in there own email box and when you reply the email is sent from the same email address the message was sent to. I am using aol, company email, another gmail account, yahoo etc.. On the phone itself only set up your main GMAIL account that contains all your email addresses. You can set up your email addresses using pop, imap, smtp and exchange options. I get my emails almost instantly on all accounts.

I hope this helps you as much as it did me.

Enjoy your Android!

FWIW, I will not use gmail. They have the worst record for security and privacy. And for a good example, 4 friends of mine in the same week, one well known on here, had their gmail accounts hacked into, their address book hijacked, and the same spam e-mail for some Canadian pharmacy sent out to all their friends! Hotmail is a touch more secure, but I prefer a real POP3 account anyway over these freebie webmails. You get what you pay for.

This is a good tip. Only thing is that you don't have to go to your computer's browser to do it. Remember, you have an EVO. We have a real browser. You can do everything from there. It is really simple and efficient.

oopps I forgot, it is the old blackberry way of thinking

Wow Thanks guys

I feel like i have a good feel, for what i will be getting into with the EVO

I use my BB For two main reasons

Downloading and listening to podcast and replying to email

I became frustrated with My BB because of the constant Freezing (annoying clock)

Sometimes i sit with my phone in hand waiting for the little clock ot go away for 2-3 mins

Also i just found out that my BB dies because i listen to podcast that are stored on my Micro SD

So my Tour only last me about 8 hours a day

So when i read about the EVO battery, i felt pretty good that i could manage a phone with that type of battery life

I'm going to Pickup an EVO and try it out

Ive grown tired of the constant freezing and having the huge battery drain just because i want to listen to podcast

Once again thanks guys

I know im fully prepared for life with the EVO (Now that Sprint has them in stock:))

Moved to the EVO from a BB 8330 curve.

I've only had my Evo for 2 days...but I am already in love. The user experience don't even come close to the BB.

A few things I miss
* Holding down a letting on the BB to make it CAPS
* Typing without looking...but this might come with time on the EVO
* Having 5-6 extra chargers laying around ;)
* The flashing notification light up top.

im also a bb user who's lookin into android. this email stuff was my main and only concern. thanks to the op for this thread.

but yea.. ima senior in college and when i got into bb that phone rocked my world. senior year was so friggin busy i had to keep up with emails from 6 professors and 7 classmates constantly on a daily basis for a year long design project.. not to mention emails from others that arent so frequent. sooo yeaa im in love with their email service. i cant say im in love with bbm anymore because more of my bbm contacts switched over to iphone or android anyway.

soo yea im gonna switch over this week since there are evos in stock now.. and my friend works at a sprint store.. i just told him to save one for me on the downlow til i can get to it. im hoping that i won't be as busy with emails this last semester cuz im worried i might miss out on bb during this oh so crucial time in my college career. but it seems like most of you say its not a big deal.. soo hopefully u r right.

I was a big BB person on Sprint and pusher. I made the switch back in Jun thinking I would swap with the wife for her BB. Now we are in a fight over this phone and I told her point blank if this causes a divorce she will have to get a Court Order with the National Guard and Sheriffsbreaking in my now dungy apartment to get it.

She laughed not realizing I was dead serious we will divorce before I give it up. She only has to wait til Dec. so I think we be ok. Switch, you wont regret imo.
