Question. Is this phone perfect?

My GPS connects almost instantly with the satellites and even with only 2 bars I have no problem making or receiving clear calls at home. Possibly you need to have your phone replaced?

My GPS locks almost instantly also, and phone calls are fantastic. It's only the 4G that is weaker than others. I've tested this at the Verizon store and it is lower than the Max and Rezound, and the Charge I had before.

Lower 4G here too - actually no 4G. I used to be able to sit in my Archie Bunker chair with my old Thunderbot and have 4G. However, with the S3 there's no 4G. It drops to 3G in the same exact place in the house.

Can radio strength be improved with a software tweak possibly, or is this it?

No. Lack of updates =/= perfection. I love my phone... BUT:

1. Can't use BT with audio out cable plugged in
2. Radios are subject par. Have to cycle wifi to get it to connect numerous times at least 3 times a week.
3. S voice is nearly unless.

Some fixes should be easy, others not so much. Is it a great phone and maybe best Android ATM? Sure.

Perfect? Absolutely not.

I would say the auto correct doesn't work too well either after reading that post! (Just having some fun)

No way - locked bootloader has me seriously considering NOT getting this phone. I don't go nuts with roms and kernels, but definitely like having the choice.

My smartphone history:

Moto Q9c
Palm Pre (OG)
HTC EVO 4g
HTC Thunderbolt
Galaxy Nexus
Samsung Galaxy S3

Hands down, the S3 is the best phone i've ever owned. Fast, beautiful, great camera... I've never had a phone that i've been 100% happy with before, but this is a first. Of course, something better will come out a little further down the road, but for me, for now, it's the perfect phone.

S Voice is awful. I really wish Bluetooth voice dial didn't rely on it. Press the button, a shrill beep. I speak. "Call [any name]." Nothing. Button, beep, speak, nothing. Again. Third time: BBS, an even more shrill double-beep and then maybe it calls. Waste of time. So much easier to swipe, put in my pattern, and go to dialer. Dear Samsung: your s**t's broken.

Is there a way to make it default to vlingo or something?
