What is this question mark beside my WiFi bar?

Is it at the top left? Usually that means it has found wifi networks around you. Could you post a screenshot?

I should have but now I'm at home. I was afraid it wasn't connected to Wi-Fi but now since you mentioned that I think you are right. I was at a Starbucks and there were other Wi-Fi signals in the area

you'll see that when you are connected to a wifi network that needs further authentication. Usually pulling down the notification bar will show a message like "further authentication required to log onto this network. Please tap here to log in". I sometimes get the message when Im traveling or logging onto public hotspots.
