Question on custom roms for GPE S4

I have a question about the compatibility of some of the more popular roms with the Google play edition of the S4. I currently own the AT&T variant of the S4 and just purchased the GPE as I am sick of not being able to flash Paranoid on my device due to the locked bootloader. When I purchased the GPE I was under the impression that with the unlocked bootloader I would be able to flash whatever I wanted on the device but from the research that I have done it seems like there is not a lot of support for the GPE and therefore only a few roms out there.

I was trying to find out if it will be difficult to get one of the carrier versions of even PA 3.99 to run on the GPE S4 with minimal changes hopefully just to the update script? Please forgive this post residing here but I have read through all of the threads on the i9505g and haven't really come across good answers. I don't know if I should keep the GPE if there is not a lot of rom support as that is my main reason for purchasing it being that I already have the locked carrier version.

Thanks guys ...

Welcome to Android Central.

I'm not sure but hopefully, one of our Samsung gurus can shed some light.

Well thank you. I actually went ahead and flashed the CM 11 nightly for the international variant and it worked. I have been using it for a day and couldn't be happier !

What are some of the benefits of CM over the stock Google Rom for the GPE? I love Google and I am hesitant to switch but I'm always open to new ideas.

Some of the things in particular that I like is the ability to add new quick toggles (Torch, Quiet Hours, etc), being able to pull down on the right to get right to settings and quick toggles and pulling down from the left to see just notifications, lock screen shortcuts which allow you to open right up into an app. They really have a lot of functionality working already in version 11. The rom really gives you a lot of customization settings that you don't get right out of the box with stock kit kat. Here is a good video to give you an idea of some of the features - Samsung Galaxy S4 CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat - Review - YouTube

Ok thanks. I ran older versions of CM on my Asus Transformer TF101 and my Samsung GS2 Skyrocket but both cases were mainly because I didn't really like the stock rom.

I think I'll stick with stock for now.
