I have two questions. When froyo gets released is it going to be ota straight to our phones or are we going to have to download it from a website? Also I thought I read somewhere that we were getting 2.2.1 what is the difference between that and 2.2? Thanks

Froyo is 2.2, the 2.2.1 probably comes from carrier specific modifications (sprint apps, tele-nav, etc)

Ok thanks guys appreciate the responses. I saw someone saying that they had the beta froyo and it was 2.2.1 so I was just wondering if there was a difference.

im pretty sure 2.2.1 is an upgrade after 2.2 because i saw it was for droid after it got 2.2

2.2 should already have all the sprint apps and touchwiz.
ill check wheni get home cuz im in a rush right now.

but your not going to get an over tha air udpate if you are rooted. which i dont remember if you are or not

it's pretty typical in software that the number after the second dot is for bug fixes and minor tweaks. i.e. 2.2.1 is a fix of 2.2, not an upgrade per se.

No Shaun I'm not rooted. I was wondering if it was coming ota cause I saw some articles about going to samsungmobile.com to download the android 2.2 and they will have instructions on how to do it. That's why I was wondering if it was being pushedvto our phones or we have to go to a website to get it when it launches.

When it is released from Samsung, it will come OTA. Most likely you will receive a notification that a system update is available. Not necessarily "pushed" to your device, you will have to accept and approve.
