Questions about Android Platform

Hello Android community. My name is Jon. I am a current BlackBerry Tour 9630 user on Sprint. Although I will probably get the 9650 when I am able to in July I have been looking at the Android platform. My concerns about moving to a Droid are:

Email...being able to have multiple accounts on a BlackBerry is necessary as I have private accounts and business accounts.

Keyboard...Not a fan of touchscreens. I much prefer an actual keyboard.

No moving parts...The BaclkBerry is a device with no moving parts (hinges, sliders, etc.) so to me less things that can break.

Run my own business....I use my BlackBerry's email and web browser to run my company on.

Can anyone please give me convincing (and accurate) reasons I should switch to an Android and dump my BlackBerry in July?

Thank you.

What types of email accounts do you have? Multiple accounts are certainly possible on Android. However, are you expecting the BB's method of handling multiple accounts or are you open to other approaches? I only have one account that I use (Exchange) so I can't really comment much on that matter.

Which Android devices are you looking at? Some are candybar form factor with no moving parts.

Can anyone please give me convincing (and accurate) reasons I should switch to an Android and dump my BlackBerry in July?
It's really a subjective judgment call that you need to make. Any needs/wants not listed above that people could chime in on?

Honestly I havent investigated much yet. I guess I need to do that. I keep hearing everyone say "The Android is so much better than the Blackberry on almost every level." So when I hear a sweeping comment such as this many times over it got my attention.

Jon, I just recently moved from the Tour to the Droid. I fully understand your concern with the email. I will say this, i was a loyal Blackberry user for 3 years and the one thing I do miss with my Droid is the push email. However, you can have multiple accounts with google as well, so maybe you could adjust to it...Im not sure. One thing that got me away from Blackberry was the constant outages/downtime in my particular area. I have only been with a Droid for about a week now, but I am very pleased with the phone and moreover, with the Android operating system. It seems to work almost flawless for me. There is virtually no lag whatsoever and has almost every feature that a blackberry has except the BBM and Push Email.....all without daily/hourly battery pulls...at least that is what I was experiencing...Realistically, though, the end decision is yours and yours alone. Jumping around in the forums where BB's and Droids are compared is somewhat helpful, but the ultimate decision in choosing your device is can it do what you need it to do.

It has already been covered that Android can perform all of the functions you are looking for and is general a superior OS to blackberry. If your upgrade is in july, you will be ready to get an EVO 4G. Read up on that phone and watch some of the reviews.
