Questions about rooting

My phone can now get software version v20c Marshmallow but, the root file that I need is v10c which I presume is incompatible both are h815 will my device be bricked if I flash v10c over my current v10f or v20c once I flash it? I've heard that downgrading might lead to bricks but I can't find the tread though I think they were talking about h811
