Questions about signal drops and updates

I to get kicked off both in my coverage area I think that's its because I'm only in a 3G CDMA only when I was ina 4G LTE area only lost data

i always leave my phone on 3g and get grey bars about 4 times a week... (that i notice) i'm driving in and out of 4g area almost on a daily basis... so, i'm probably switching between a lot of towers...

now in the last couple days i'm getting screeching sounds during a couple phone calls... i can hear the person on the other line ok but from the sounds of it, they're getting an ear full... this happened a few times before awhile back... i thought the issue was resolved...

phone is running jelly bean btw...

So I got the replacement and the first thing I check was where it was made. The replacement was made in Korea and sure enough, the 4G is strong and not dropping after about an hour. On the China one, it dropped about 4 times an hour in the same area. All good but the one thing I noticed right away on the Korean replacement is the colors on the screen...MUCH more dull. It almost looks like the brightness is turned all the way up. I messed with the brightness but no improvement

Now I am torn, I keep the shotty 4G device with the amazing screen or keep the solid 4G with the sub par screen. Why can't I have both

I just got my new replacement and this one is from China. So far this hasn't dropped signal and the colors are way better. My last phone was from Korea.

Interesting. Good to hear you got a solid replacement, think I'm gonna pursue another replacement myself. Thanks for the feedback

I am tired of the drops mid call. My GNex dropped 3x during a 20 min call today. I am going on vacation starting Tuesday, back on Sunday. Vzn has till next Monday to get this updated or I will jump ship with them again. I did it once before to Altel just to be reabsorbed a year later. Currently $350 minus $10 a month used does not seem to costly ETF if I can get a great phone that works, is truly a Nexus with AOSP support and no dropped calls. One would think I should get at least the last requirement for the $$$ I spend each month.
