Hi,

I have/had the original Samsung Galaxy Tablet with gingerbread and today upgraded to the 7.0 Plus. On the Gingerbread, I was able to make folder to place movies in. For example, I could have a sub folder for all Star Wars films in a Star Wars folder, All the Star Trek films in a Trek folder. I am unable to be able to do this on the Honeycomb. Does anyone know if this is possible.

Also, is it possible to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich on this 7.0 Plus??

Thanks for all assistance in these matters.:D

The ICS update is not out yet. :( Not sure on the other question.

Eclipse:

One of the problems that trouble many of us Android users who have upgraded from GingerBread is the fact that direct write access to the micro SD card was dropped in HoneyComb. There are ways around this, but it is a point of irritation to many, myself included.

I suggest you research the problem fully, as there are ways around it, and many forum threads and discussions about it. Let me again emphasize it is a HoneyComb problem, not a problem unique to theTab 7 plus.

Hope this helps!

cbill,
Do we know if it is something that might be corrected in ICS? I have heard that ICS is a merge of both gingerbread and honeycomb.

I wish I could give you a quick answer. I have ICS on two tablets, but I have not tested to see if I can write to my mSD cards with the stock file manager. However, I do not believe it is possible without rooting.

I can tell you that I have two programs that are supposed to allow writing to the SDmicro storage. One, "FileManager HD" has recently been reported in forums to be randomly deleting files. The other, "SDCardXD" was the original File Manager that allowed writing to the mSD. However, the programmer that wrote that app received a lot of resistance from the App Stores, so it is not readily available. The programmer is a straight shooter, and his program is popular with the members of XDA (

I believe his website is [url=http://www.GmanApps.com]Welcome to the GmanApps
.

Truthfully, I have just been transfering files with my computer as this whole matter seems to be a mess.
I was hoping some Guhru would jump in and provide all the answers for both of us. To me the whole thing is very stupid.

My suggestion is try getting the program from Gman. I know it works with Honeycomb.

Hope this is of some help. Please post back what you learn.

Best of luck

UPDATE/// Eclipse: Just verified that Gmans app works on writing (copying) files from internal SD to external storage (microSD) using ICS.
