Quick charge 3.0

I upgraded all my chargers to QC 3.0 and didn't notice much of a difference from v2. I'm sure if I did some real measured test, I'd see it, but I was hoping for another % or 2 per minute. Oh, well.

I did a bit of reading up on Quick charge and this is how I interpreted it:-

QC 3.0 isn't designed to be much faster (if at all) then QC 2.0, the big improvement is efficiency and less wasted energy (Heat). It's claimed that version 3.0 is around 38% more efficient then version 2.0, so providing similar speeds but at a much cooler temperature. In theory this should keep your battery cooler and hopefully prolong its operational lifespan, as we all know batteries and heat don't get on well.

It depends on the phone too.

For example my G6 charges at the same speeds when I hook up my Macbook Pro USB C charger to it according to Ampere as it does through the Wall chargers I have for both QC 3.0 and QC 2.0.

Plugged into my Macbook Pro Charger:

I bought a few QC 3.0 power bricks with the USB-C cables off Amazon. Aukey is the brand I think.

definitely love the quick charge speed, and love seeing the "fast charging enabled" on the lower part of my lock screen when it does

I use wireless charging 95% of the time, but to me seems that QC2 and QC3 are about the same speed, but QC3 does seem more efficient, as it is supposed to be, because I usually don't notice the phone getting warm at all.

This alone is worth using QC 3.0 for. Your battery will certainly thank you for it later on down the line

I have an Aukey 10,000mAh. Works great. I was going for 20 bucks and I got a promo code from Android Central which brought it down to 12 bucks. Now Amazon wants 27 dollars. Takes a long time to charge the juice pack though.

The G6 could honestly charge faster but i noticed that he is fully charge in 1h and 45 min so.. You all replaced fast charger that came originaly with the phone ?

I've replaced mine with a quick charge 3.0 one. I don't believe it to be much faster, but that's not what the upgrade from 2.0 to 3.0 was really about.

Well the G6 really isn't getting any hot during the charging at least i didn't noticed it... They really did great job on heating part unlike the last models like g3 and g4... On usage during hot sunny days, during charging my temp of phone doesn't go over 36 celsius. Where my g3 was on 44+ one time it was on 52 i had to remove case, back battery cover i thought it would explode literaly...

I got a USB power meter and checked out my phone's charging. The bundled charger was outputting 6.x volts once the phone switched over to fast charging. So it would appear that it does support the QC3.0-style variable voltage rather than just 5v and 9v as labeled on the charger. I'll check it again later tonight when the battery is lower as well.
