Greetings fellow HTC One owners!
I have been looking around the web for any information regarding this dreadful charging time for the HTC One. It seems that actual standard charging time for it to get fully charged to 100% is basically 3.5 - 4.5 hours. Basically 4 hours give or take. As much as I love the HTC One, this for me is an issue of concern. Waiting a couple of hours for my mobile phone to fully charge is OK but to have to wait 4 hours is simply ridiculous.
What I would really like to know is, does HTC One not having a quick charge option/feature/ability dependent on the OS/software or the hardware?
I chose the HTC One while my wife got the Galaxy S4. The S4 charges to 100% in 2-2.5 hours or less depending on how much juice is left compared to HTC One taking 4 hours or more. I tested the charging time for both phones (when battery was at 20%).
I found this very informative article below where it says "HTC One doesn?t support Qualcomm Quick Charge"...

So back to my question... Is the ability to quick charge the HTC One based on the hardware or the software? 4 hours to fully charge is just unacceptable for me and as much as I love the phone, I will still have to take the practicality route and choose the phone that is supposed to make a mobile user's life much easier. If this lack of ability to quick charge is based on the hardware or lack of some piece of hardware that would enable it on the HTC One, then I will have to switch to the Galaxy S4. But if this issue is only software dependent and would eventually be fixed by some software or firmware update, then by all means, I will stay with my HTC One. I still have about 8 days left before the option to return the phone and exchange it for a different model is up.
Really hoping someone can help me out and share concrete information with this query. I sent an email to HTC but have yet to hear back from them...
