Quick GPS Fix, is it Legit?

Ok, so I used a LP Activities Shortcut to get into GpsSetup. Default mode is "MSBased". SUPL Address is "supl.google.com:7276". So it would appear that the "fix" is already applied by default on the Fascinate...

Thanks! Between you and egg_head, the knowledge base for Fascinate users has just been expanded significantly.

One remaining ambiguity is in the three options for location services on the Fascinate's main Settings -> Location & security menu. The labels on these options appear to have been made up by Verizon marketers without defining them, even in the user manual. And they are different from settings labels on other Galaxy S phones. We really don't know what they do technically.

The GPS on my Fascinate seems fine. I've used it to play golf a couple of times and the distances were dead on.

I just read a thread on another forum with a quote from a VZW guy claiming the problem is from having all three options in the settings checked. He claims it kills the battery, and "there is no GPS bug in the Fascinate like there is in the other Galaxy phones. There will be a fix to allow the three services to play well together, but it aint no bug". He says Verizon knows there is a problem with all three running, and if you turn of VZW Services, if you use Google navigation, it works like it should.

I wonder how they manage to get a phone to turn on with idiots like that working there. I tried turning off VZW Services, just to try it, and I still take 4-5 minutes to get a lock the first time. And if I wait until tomorrow, and start GPS Test first, I can get a lock in 30 seconds. With all three checked, it works exactly the same.

Maybe I'm expecting too much. My Garmin and Magellan both get locks from a cold start quicker than my phone, but it is still a phone. I guess I got spoiled with the how quick my friends DInc gets a fix. At least my screen is prettier.
