While I have had quite a few Samung phones over the years, and actually still have all of these, Galaxy Note 2, 4, 5, S7 Edge and S8, I have never used them as my daily over my Moto line of phones. I have the entire Moto X line as well as a Moto Z play as there are a few unique features that Moto added that nobody else did.

If you are familiar with the Moto line, you may know that you can "chop" the phone to quickly turn on the flashlight and twist the phone to access the camera. There are a few other things like the three finger touch to take a screenshot but Samsung has that covered with the side of your hand swipe but is there a quick access for the other two on the S10e? Can you reprogram the Bixby button? Maybe a long press for the flashlight and a double press for the camera?

I know these are small things but I am so used to them and I use these features multiple times daily so I am really hoping that there is a way to do this on the S10e without having to turn on the screen, access a menu, etc...

Thanks,
Kirk

On every android phone, double press the power button to open the camera works, at least for me. Same with S10 series, you can double press the power button to open the camera. I use it all the time and actually think it's much more reliable than the chop to open on the Moto phones.

Edit: Actually it's also a setting in the camera settings, don't remember if it's on by default or I turned it on. Either way you have the option.

I just checked and with the built in Bixby key remapping, you can do it for the camera but not for the flashlight. The only things you can do is the usual thing of putting it in the notification shade. I haven't tried the app that others have mentioned that you can use to remap it.

Thanks. So can I remap the Bixby button to turn on the Flashlight? If so, then that would make my decision pretty easy as I really do want a smaller phone than my Moto X and the S10 e fits the bill for sure. I almost pulled the trigger on it from Samsung this weekend but really wanted to see if I could do these two things first.

I totally forgot about the power button double press since I got to used to the Chop, but just did it on my Moto X and it worked of course.

My mistake, you can enable the flashlight with the app called bxactions.

Yes pretty sure you can remap the single press on the bixby button to anything you want. Out of the box, you can only map it to an app or run bixby quick command. Since flashlight is not an app you would have to create a bixby quick command and map the single press to run that quick command to toggle flashlight. I tried it works but couldn't launch the command is the screen is off and phone is locked, even though I enable the setting to allow when phone is locked.

But there is bixby actions app and few other ways you can hack around to get it to launch flashlight.

I just kept it launching Google app, but do a google search and XDA will have much better suggestions.

I took the plunge and just ordered a 256GB Prism White S10e. With being able to add shortcuts using this Bixby Button Remapper app and the apps creator being so helpful on the XDA forums, I think this will probably be the phone that moves me away from the Moto X line.

I miss my chop chop flashlight too! Found myself trying it the other day Lol. I will give the BXmapper app a try and see how it does.

Hi- all. I use bxActions Pro to Single Press to back, Double Press to Google, Long Press to Home, and Double Press and Hold to launch Flashtlight. No root necessary and pop up Bixby box disappears if you run bxActions.exe from your PC. This is a great app.
