Quick question on CM7

I am thinking about loading CM7 tonight as I need to wipe my device anyway because of this stupid "Low Space Warming" that I have been battling for a couple weeks.

My question is with CM7 the only issues it has is it can't do 720P video record and is also missing the tap to autofocus on the camera right? Is there anything else missing, excluding Sense of course?

Also wanted to see since I am looking for a stable daily ROM should I use the released CM7 or is loading a nightly a safe bet also? I probably will not load up a new nightly every day so I am aiming for stable.

Thanks for the info!

720p and tap to focus are all that's missing. And I've been using the nightlies for a while. They have proven to be stable and have worked well as my daily driver.

Sent from my HTC Droid Nexus with Tapatalk.

Do nightlies offer a noticiable improvement over the normal release?

Thanks for the insight!

The nightlies are "experimental" and have some features the stable version doesn't have yet. It also means that they have a few more bugs and issues the stable version doesn't have. I personally haven't had any major problems, though some people are reporting wifi issues with the last few nightlies.

i use cm7 nightly and update to everyone and the only issue ive experienced is the wifi cutting in and out but i dont use it that much so no big deal and i use it as a daily rom on my incredible

My Wi-Fi has been isolated to my home AP - I used it quite a bit today with no problems on #100.

The nightlies have many many bug fixes from the Stable. You don't have to flash every nightly, but anything in the 95+ range should be very stable and have lot's of stuff the Stable does not.

I live and die by my phone and CM7 is my daily driver.

Just my $0.02

The MIUI camera app for CM7 has a pre-focus setting that allows you to push the optical joystick to pre-focus the camera and when you release the button it snaps the photo. Won't do a thing for you on the 720 front but I find it a much better camera than the stock CM7 camera though they have made some progress on it.

As far as loading the nightly's, they don't technically come out EVERY night but close to it. After you've gotten your CM ROM set up and running, reflashing the nighlies is a breeze because you only need to wipe the data/cache and Dalvic, not the big bad factory reset. So you do your data wipes, flash the new nightly, reboot and everything is right where you left it.

Total n00b question - when you update a nightly, you don't have to also flash gapps again, do you?

I've been using CM7 7.0.3 stable for a few weeks and can tell you, hands down, this is the best "non-Sense" (no pun intended) rom out there, especially when used with the latest Incredikernel version. I don't record video very often so not having 720 isn't an issue. I'm also using the Miui camera which is SO much better than the stock camera app. There is also a Miui gallery app that I personally like better than the gallery app that comes with CM7. If you are looking for a rom that works great, this is the one to get.

My one and only gripe is that I cannot get auto brightness to work. This may be something I'm not doing right, but I have found all the posts here and on XDA developers site and have tried them all and it's just not working. But for a rom that works great, I can deal with it.
