Quick question

it killed mine, I turned it off...everyone s phone seems to be working differently though so you might want to try it first

Doesn't affect my battery unless I see the little satellite icon (like when Google Maps or other location aware apps are running). Then it drains it pretty heavily.

for the past 1.5yrs i've left mine off (samsung moment, Evo, Thunderbolt) but last weekend i turned it on.

haven't noticed a single bit of extra battery drain (of course i've tailored any apps that use GPS not to poll)
but yes, like ^^^^^^^^^ said, unless the Satellite is flashing/appearing, it doesn't seem to hurt my battery either.

Same here. I used to leave mine off and I wuld keep getting the notice anytime I needed to turn it on. So then I just started leaving it on all the time, and I havent noticed any sort of drop in battery time since I did. which was like 2 weeks ago.

You should be able to have the Standalone GPS checked in the location settings menu all the time. The apps that use the GPS will use it when necessary, otherwise it should stay 'off'. Just make sure you don't have anything in the background chugging on it all the time. If you see the little satellite in the notification bar it's active. Otherwise, it's not active.
