I'm very disappointed to report that my SGSIII has drowned over the weekend. I got shoved in a swimming pool with my wallet and phone still in my pockets.

The phone currently sits in a bag of rice at home. Fingers crossed that mother-effer turns on when I arrive home this evening. This is a sad day for everyone.

Is the person responsible for throwing you in the pool going to buy you a new phone if this one does not come back later from the dead?

I agree with this, the person is responsible for damaging your phone.

If the pool was chlorinated, you can pretty much forget about it. Even if you get the phone working, it will only be a matter of time before the chlorine left on the circuit boards shorts it out later.

Get the person who threw you in the pool to pay the deductible, if you had insurance, or the replacement cost of a new phone. It will teach them a lesson on not behaving like a child.

THis is when having a knife is a good idea! Plus you should make them pay for it. Even if it does work afterwards. I hate stupid people like this.

Fun is fun but when personal possessions potentially get destroyed it's not fun any more. I would definitely try to get the guy who did the shoving to pay for damage if at all possible. Did he at least acknowledge that he's an idiot?

I agree. The person who threw you onto the pool needs to BUY you a new phone. What an idiot....can't even warn you do you can empty your pockets.

You should take HIS phone/electronics, and throw em in the bathtub.

Bathtub hell, I would throw it in the toilet after a hangover dump. Sorry to be so graphic but I am growing tired of having to give the lecture around the pool that if people have a nice phone and car remote you could be buying $1000.00 of stuff you will never touch.

Thanks for all the kind wishes you guys. I'm still a bit in shock over it. :'( At least the responses from all of you are cheering me up a bit!

I am definitely going to be sending this guy an email that all but demands that he pay me for a new phone. It's tough because he is a friend of a friend so it makes it even more awkward for me to contact him.

Even if the phone does turn on the water damage stickers are going to be voided, so if I have any issues down the road there is going to be no warranty. I'm giving my phone a full 48 hours in the bag of rice so when I get home tonight it's going be the moment of truth. I was so excited to get this device and I just rooted it and it was all going so smoothly just a very very frustrating weekend.

I'm going to lose my unlimited data aren't I? Major bummer.

(and if any of you care, I just sent the gentleman who shoved me in an email about replacing my phone)

So a guy you barely know did this? You might want to send him a copy of "How to win friends and influence people". Good luck with the email. Hopefully it accomplishes what you want. You also may want to talk directly to your friend if this guy doesn't respond within a reasonable time frame.

So what was this guys' demeanor after he pushed you into the pool - meaning after he realized you have your wallet and phone on you? Was he apologetic? Did he offer to make amends? What has you friend said about it? I'm just trying to see if this ****** bag is going to be a stand up guy or tell you to pound sand.

This one may end up in small claims court.

I believe an ass whooping is in order. I mean who just pushes someone that u don't know. Unless there was a motive. Maybe he saw ya phone, got jealous, saw u put it in ya pocket and said if that guy walks by the pool I'm gonna push him in.

Who knows but right now he would be wearing 3 shoes.........2 on his feet and 1 in his ass.
