Radio Signal Sucks!

Pardon my ignorance, I've never rooted and don't know how to. So you root the phone which allows one to install things that don't come with the phone, like these "radios". And the Rooters pass this stuff around in files online. But who comes up with this stuff in the first place, does the actual work? To alter the reception of the phone's antennas must take some smarts.

Essentially, the 4.0.4 radios were taken from the OTA leak a few months back. We didn't come up with them--Google/Verizon/whomever did. We're simply flashing the leaked radios and replacing the old ones with the new ones.

it is usually someone who test out software for verizon, gets the latest update on their phone...then get is off of there and into the hands of the developer community, who then rip it apart, and put all the goodies into flashable .zip files for us.
verizon/google has had a 4.0.4 update available for MONTHS now...but never released it. not sure why, everything seemed pretty much bug-free in my eyes. seems they could have stopped the radio Woes a long time ago. but obviously they saw something we didn't.

I don't believe any rom does unless it says otherwise or unless it features a separately flashable zip.

I just installed the new radios and it is unbelievable how much improved the reception is. And it took all of 2 minutes for the whole process.

I am one of the few who had bad results with 4.04 radios, my handoffs are slower and reception is no better. I might even switch back I am trying to hold out until the next leak and hope it arrives before I leave for Jamaica on the 4th

stock rooted. I should add the hand off from wifi to 3g/4g is the absolute worse!! Sometimes it will stay grey until I toggle airplane mode or reboot, no data at all no matter what I do.

It might not be a bad idea to do a fresh wipe--data, cache, dalvik--if you have a custom recovery. There's a lot of voodoo in this stuff, and that's a good way to exorcise some demons.

Beautiful Widgets w/ Roboto Clock and I believe MC Weather? It's one of the more popular skins in their skin market/download area.

OK, just ordered a replacement GN from Amazon Wireless. They say I will have it Monday.
I won't go down without a fight! My wife is giving me grief because she sees me futzing with the GN and the Maxx all the time and tells me I just need to keep the Maxx and get over it! hehe But, I really like the GN if I can actually make phone calls..!
Should I get a new SIM when the new phone comes? Does that really make any difference?
OH! BTW - Galaxy Nexus on Amazon Wireless is only $49 in contract now...
