Radioshack will have it for sale tomorrow without pre-order

I went to my local Radioshack and the guy was forcibly trying to sell me on anything but the HTC evo shift 4g. He was saying it's slower than the Transform and that Samsung is a better brand. He was adamant about MHZ being the bottom line of speed with anything. I gave him the example that a intel core 2 duo is clocked higher than the new intel i7's, yet the i7's are significantly faster and he still stuck to his point that the HTC evo shift 4g was a slower phone. I told him that it has similar hardware to the HTC G2 and he assured me that the HTC G2 is one of the slowest Android phones that they have at the shack. -_- I told him that I still want the Evo shift 4g and that radioshack's twitter announced that it would be released on the 6th. He said he had no records of that and that they barely received a dummy phone on the 4th which he let me handle.

no disrespect to anyone working at radio shack...but sometimes they're not the most helpful (not saying everyone who works there, just happens to be a large number)

at my local store they will give me a hard time like it's their business what i do, even though the guy is getting his commission out of me, he still has to run his mouth. Hell when i was trying to buy my Evo, the guy working here was trying to convince me to just swap out my palm Pre for another one, and how superior WebOS is to android. after having my Evo the Pre looks like children's toy :-P

might take a drive over on my lunch break and see if they have any Shifts, i like the idea of a keyboard and i want to donate my Evo to science :-P i want to try out Dev roms and what not but i still need a reliable phone for daily use, the Shift fits that bill

EVO Shift 4g available at RadioShack tomorrow Jan 6th without pre-order....just called and confirmed (at least here in NYC)...hopefully all the people who couldnt wait already pre-ordered at best buy so they dont sell out too quick at the shack!....so who's buying one tomorrow?

I will be for one! :)

Radio Shack to sell the Evo Shift 4G three days before Sprint | Android Central
I will be taking my EVO with me - I want a head to head comparison between both phones.

My EVO calls the shift his little sister.

just got mine this morning from the shack...the guy was extremely helpful (here in NYC on 57th st and 7th ave)....had it for less than an hour and so far love it! would have typed this on it but im in a bit of a rush....full review coming real soon!

awesome! i'm thinking of going down around 12 and see if my local store has any, my friend isn't working for next few days so we'll see how it goes :-P

Well, I'll give a shout out too. The Shack I was at in the Burnsville Center in Burnsville MN last night were super helpful. It is too bad some people have bad experiences but I wouldn't hesitate at all to buy a phone from the store I was at last night. They had three in stock and would have sold me one too. They said Sprint gave the ok as soon as they got them in. They went through all the pros and cons of it vs the Evo, Epic and even the Optimus. They seemed knowledgeable which is nice. Sometimes you have to deal with people who are at a business because they couldn't find a different job or something which isn't fun. I am waiting until Sunday though.

funny since i been following this thing so much for so long i knew more about it than the guy at radioshack lol...nonetheless still had a great buying experience there, he was real friendly and helpful and gave me an incredible deal on a 16gb sd card (from the listed $119 to $36!)....much prefer to give them my money over best buy

just picked one up today for the woman. Thanks to android central for the tip ;-) employees were also curious about how i knew they would have it

Picked mine up a few hours ago, pleasant experience. they had a new guy working, he was decent enough. makes it easier when they don't have to educate the customer.

i walked in, asked if they had any shifts, he said they had 3, told him i wanted one and he went out and grabbed it, upgraded my account and here i am :) 20 minutes tops.

i think i'm the first one in town to get one too :)

side note - looks like sprint is getting the blackberry playbook according to their facebook page :-D

I just got my Evo shift 4g :-) I haven't had a chance to use it. I had a problem where the people at Radioshack didn't activate it correctly or something because I can't make calls and my data isn't working. All I can say is that I love the screen and the sturdy feel of the phone and keyboard.

Went to Rat Shack and picked up the Evo Shift they had on hold for me. Messing with it for the first couple hours- I'm in love. Coming from a Palm Pre. The build quality is head and shoulders above the Pre. The phone is speedy- no delays opening email / web browser like with the Pre. Looks like a keeper.

I can understand how some of the users feel about the Shift...keep in mind if your coming from a Pre, BB or anyother non HTC Android phone, the Shift is a great phone, on the other hand if you have been a faithful user of the HTC EVO since it's launch then you will find the Shift to be a real disapointment. Working for the Shack and dealing with phones on a daily basis i can honestly say that they ruined the EVO name by even releasing this phone with the EVO name on it...ughhh..runs like a pig in heat compared to the EVO 4G... but runs much better than the Sanyo ZIO...god DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE ZIO...lol Thats a whole different topic. I can appreciate those people that are first time Android users with a Shift...but you really dont know what your missing until you have had or used the original EVO....sorry...just my personal and professional opinion...Honestly, if your going to pay 149.00 for the Shift..spend the extra 50.00 and get the EVO...really...!! When we heard back months ago they were going to make an EVO2 i was pretty excited...i thought..great the perfrect phone..take my EVO, add a sliding a keyboard and its GOLDEN! But no..they had to destroy a perfectly good phone..why?? I have no idea...but all i know is that when we got them in stock a couple days before the launch date...ughh!! what a let down!!

I had a similar problem when I got it at Best Buy. It took 3 calls to Sprint Customer Service and and 5 CSRs only to find out that I needed to turn off my previous phone for the activation to fully take, lol!
