Just pre-ordered, and got a price of 189.99. And got the $20 accessory deal too. :D

Every time you buy something at Radio Shack, there's a link for an online customer satisfaction survey on your receipt; take the survey and get $10 off a purchase of $40 or more within the next 30 days. When I paid the pre-order deposit, the receipt had the link, just like any other transaction. Confirmed with the sales person that the coupon could be used when I pick up the phone in 21 days.

Just spent 3 minutes filling out the survey and printing the coupon, so my net price is $189.99. Radio Shack just paid my first month's "Premium Data" tax.

The Shack has a pretty good deal with that $20.00 toward accessories. But will they have them ready on June 4th? I'll probably check this Friday Afternoon what to do, The Shack or Best Buy, they are really close to each other in my area, so I don't have to worry about going out of my way for the other.

Did they actually give you something for the $20 towards the accessory? They didnt give me anything except the receipt.

I didn't get anything for the $20 accessories either, but didn't remember about that until after I left...now wondering if I need to go back for it.

As for when they'd have them in stock, the receipt specifically states that it will be available on the 4th and that it would only be held for you until the 5th, so I assume that means they get it on the 4th.

I'm going to pass by tomorrow and ask if they had to give me anything. And yea they hold the phone for 48hrs for us. once 48hrs pass, they are able to sell it as regular inventory product. I know I will be there as soon as the store opens to have as much fun as i can with it.

I did the survey for Radio Shack. But on the fine print under the coupon it states that it is invalid for phone orders.

BB tried to double tax me....

I went to my local Best Buy to do the pre order, and they tried to charge me tax on top of the gift card... I complained and explained them that they were going to double tax me, because on Jun 4th, they will charge me 199 + tax, then I had to use my gift card to pay 50 out of the total, BUT I already paid tax for that card...

Anyway, I told them that I was going to find out on Radio Shack, so I did and of course, they did not charge me tax on the gift card....

I am a Best Buy employee. The tax addition with the gift card is a system mistake. Best Buy corporate sent us an e-mail about the problem and how to give customers the $50 without applying tax. Basically the Best Buy store you went to didn't check their e-mails.

That's what I thought, and I tried to explain it to them, but they did not want to hear me... so sadly they lost a sale

I am in the exact same boat. My Sprint Premier allows me an upgrade on July 1st.

However, I did go and buy 4 Evos from the Shack today for my family to add on to my plan. I was going to order my own Evo through Sprint on Jun 4th to make sure I have no problems with the upgrading.

Anyone else know?

nycraze, I pre-ordered from BB last night and got charged tax for the gift card. What next? Do I go back and have them re-do it?

Also: if I originally purchased my Pre on Launch Day last year but I am on my 3rd one (thank goodness for sprint insurance) due to manufacturer defects, do I still qualify for the buy-back? Wondering if you would know.

To tell you the truth, I wouldn't know the answer for your both question. My store was aware of the error before anyone pre-ordered so we didn't have any conflict. The e-mail didn't say anything about customers that actually paid the tax. My only guess is that you can go back and tell them that you've heard from a Best Buy employee saying about the tax error. And if they finally found out about it, ask what can they do about it.

So since you will be there to find out about the error, you might as well ask them about you insurance info. I personally don't work for the mobile department but I'll try and post info up here when i find out.

I was also charged the tax. Please let us know if you find out if they can refund the tax. If not I may have to cancel my preorder and just go to Radio Shack. Would Best Buy give me a refund if I choose to cancel?

I'm a Sprint Premier customer with a 15% discount through my work. If I use my upgrade on the EVO and get it from RS, is it going to mess with my 15% discount in any way? I know that when I first started my Sprint service, the BB I purchased my first phone from couldn't apply the discount and I would have had to pay full price for the first 2-months of service. Now that I'm already under contract and just doing an upgrade, I would assume this wouldn't matter at all. Does anyone know?

All about the shack

Well, I went to Best Buy yesterday... asked about pre ordering, they looked like I was crazy and sent me to Sprint.

Sooo... Went to the shack and I'm number 3 on the order list.
All they had as far as advertisement was a 4x7 inch sign next to the cash register.

Also no info about the $20 discount on accessories.

the phone is $199. you'll pay tax on that price. if you pay tax on $50, then $149, it's the same, no?

199 + 5% tax (9.95) = 208.95

50 + 5% tax (2.5) = 52.50
-plus-
149 + 5% tax (7.45) = 156.45
= 208.95

just make sure the associate knows you already paid tax on the $50 gift card, or you'll lose a couple bucks on the final transaction. you guys who didn't pay tax on the gift card will just have to do it on june 4th.

208.95 - 50 = 158.95
208.95 - 52.50 = 156.45
the difference is 2.50, the tax on the 50, which you either paid or didn't.

did you pre-order? the mile long receipt they give you has all that info.

ps: i couldn't vote in the poll b/c i pre-ordered at both places. if RS decides to release the phone a few days early (as speculated by an insider), I win. if RS blows their order and doesn't expect to get phones in on time, i go to BB. either way, i have a gift card to use for phone accessories, etc.

If I'm not mistaken, your 15% discount is associated with your MRC (monthly recurring charge) and is already coded on your account. Swapping your ESN (which is all you're essentially doing by upgrading your phone) and adding the up-charge for 4G, and the hot-spot charge if you choose, should NOT impact the 15% discount you have associated with your account. In fact, you should be able to enjoy 15% off the newly added monthly recurring up-charge(s) as well. The only thing the discount doesn't apply to is the Sprint insurance plan I believe. I'd call Sprint customer service immediately after activating your EVO just to make sure RS didn't screw it up ... just to be safe.

No, I specifically asked that, and they told me that I have to pay 199 + tax (and use my 50 card to pay for part of it) and in that case they are actually double taxing me, because they apply the tax to the full amount, and not to 149)

(BTW, I'm in Texas, and the tax here is not 5%, it is 8.25%)
