RAM management fix

Will Samsung update the S6 to fix the terrible RAM management? My phone needs to be rebooted every two days. Apps close very quickly which is annoying. Especially for an app that requires a password and it closes after I leave it for only a half minute then I must re enter password. Also chrome web pages constantly reload. Why this phone does this with all the high end specs is a mystery to me. Samsung has acknowledged the problem months ago yet nothing has been done. So my question is: do you think they will fix this soon? Soon like within the next month or two? If not then I may be swapping to the new MOTO X.

I've heard some people say that the ram issue was fixed in the 5.1.1 update but I don't know for sure. I'm hoping it gets fixed once att releases the update

You know what's interesting? When I had my regular Verizon S6, apps use to reload all the time. I could be browsing in Chrome, switch to Facebook for a minute. Back to Chrome and it would reload. Switch back to Facebook and IT would reload. Grrr. Sometimes I could just lock the phone and unlock it again in a minute or two and whatever app I was using would reload. Double Grrrrrr.
Skip forward to my Verizon network extender dying and since I didn't want to buy another and I get no Verizon signal in my house, I switched to AT&T and picked up the S6 Active. I have no idea if it has to do with a different carrier or the phone itself, but I haven't had a single app reload on me in the 3 weeks I've had it. It actually works like it should work.

yeah, shouldn't be this way but, Just reboot every morning when you roll out of bed. done. 30 sec task.

too bad I just came from AT&T to Verizon. I love my S6 but the RAM management issue is frustrating. It'll run great for a while, but if I'm listning to Spotify for a while and doing other tasks on it, a few hours later it becomes laggy to the point where screen touches take at least 30seconds to register and do anything. A reboot fixes it, but with 3GB of RAM, this shouldn't be an issue. I'd like to try the Active but I don't think the phone looks the greatest either. But would love to have that battery, better RAM management (potentially), and water resistance.

I wonder if this carrier related issue. I am on tmobile with android 5.1.1 and I don't have ram management problem. Also, I haven't seen tmobile s6 user complaining about lags.

5.1.1 is suppose to fix this issue and with you already on 5.1.1 you wouldn't see it.

It's definitely better with the latest update(I got a new update after the 5.1.1 update).
But still it's quite bad for a phone having 3 gb of ram

This issue is really making me consider the new Moto X.

Sorry to say but the latest update to 5.1.1 on Verizon did nothing to fix the RAM management problem.

At the least it fixed the memory leak that was present in Lollipop devices since 5.0. Google finally ironed that out.

Hello jdhooghe , I bought my Galaxy s6 three days ago and rams smarphone is around 54% to 68% without doing anything when it comes 68% I clean the ram and back to 54% . When I play or open many applications the Ram reaches 73% and never passed it
until now . I want to know if these values are normal. Someone can help me?

Notes: Android 5.1.1

I think that is normal, my S6 also has very high RAM usage. All you should look for if any app is getting abruptly closed and it should not be due to RAM unavailability.

High RAM usage is actually a good thing so it's nothing to worry about. Most of those apps are simply residing in memory to be used at a moments notice so they have quick startup. Each of those apps/processes will get switched in and out of memory depending on when Android determines that it will be most likely needed or not.

I don't seem to have the RAM issues that other people speak of so maybe it's carrier related and is related to bloatware.

Do a screen record of listening to Youtube in the background and switch to a couple different apps like Facebook, Chrome, Messenger, etc. Post that up for us. Or take a screenshot of your total RAM in Smart Manager with everything closed out.

How would I do a screen record without root? And for what purpose?
For what you ask I know already that RAM usage is high, but it's meant to be for reasons stated. Also I commonly switch between several apps at once such as around 3 or 4 chess apps, browser and a few others but I've not yet noticed any problems. Note that after closing all apps it will repopulate soon after.
